This course will provide the learner with the knowledge to properly clean and disinfect the cleanroom.
Target Audience
This course is designed for those working in a compounding controlled environment that need to understand how to do properly clean and disinfect the cleanroom.
Statement of Need
Technicians need to have an understanding of how to properly clean and disinfect a cleanroom to minimize contamination and maintain a suitable environment for compounding sterile preparations
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, Pharmacists should be able to:
- Discuss the factors used for cleaning and disinfection and which one may be the most important
- Discuss the primary factor for determining cleaning frequency
- Explain the decision making process for selecting disinfectants
- Discuss which cleaning agents are used for deactivating hazardous drugs
- Explain how to assess cleaning efficacy
At the conclusion of this activity, Technicians should be able to:
- Discuss cleanroom best practices to minimize contamination
- Arrange the order of cleaning for PECs and SECs
- List two broad categories of disinfectants
- Identify the 4 steps for properly cleaning a BSC after a hazardous spill
- Explain the order in which a LAFW and BSC is cleaned
